Why use a database instead of Google? Because any one can create a website, whether they know what they are talking about or not!
Databases provide access to reliable information from credible sources, which are only accessible through a paid subscription. The Learning Commons subscribe to a number of on-line databases covering all aspects of history, science, Geography, Environmental and Social issues including Britannica an On-line Encyclopedia. These databases can be accessed via the OLMC portal – Learning Commons – Catalogue or Home Page. So next time you are searching for information for your Assessment Task, use a database! Or ask a Library staff member for help.
The following video will give you an insight to why you should use Databases instead of Google when searching for information.
